Accessibility statement
I want everyone who comes to this site to be able to read it, use it and book a call. Here's the standard I build to, how I check it, and what I know still falls short.
The standard
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It's built to work as it is: there's no overlay widget or plugin layered on top of the pages.
How it's checked
- Automated checks on every page. Each page is tested with axe-core, an automated accessibility checker, at two widths: 1280 pixels, like a laptop, and 390 pixels, like a phone. Google's Lighthouse accessibility audit runs on a phone and a desktop profile too.
- Keyboard and focus. Every control shows a visible focus ring, and a skip link at the top of each page jumps past the menu.
- Touch targets. Buttons and menu links are at least 44 pixels tall.
- Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the animations on this site turn off.
- Without JavaScript. The Book a call buttons, the email address and the phone number work as plain links even if scripts don't load.
Known gaps
- Screenshots are images. The real screens of my own systems are pictures. Each has alt text that describes what it shows, but the text inside them can't be resized or read out like page text. Nothing you need to use the site lives only inside a screenshot.
- Low contrast inside screenshots. Some small gray text inside those screenshots belongs to the software being shown and is lower in contrast than the text on the site itself.
- Screen reader testing. The booking calendar passes the automated checks, but it hasn't yet been tested by people who use screen readers every day. If it gets in your way, email or call me and I'll book the call for you.
If something doesn't work for you
Email justin@elevatebiz.co or call or text 346-876-2295. Tell me the page and what happened, and I'll fix it or get you what you need another way.
