01What it is

What small business consulting means here

Consulting at Elevate is one job: finding where customers and jobs slip away before they turn into paid work. We follow the path a real customer takes with your business, note every place it breaks, and write it down as a plan with a price. It starts with a free 30-minute call.

Every customer walks the same path. They find you on Google, on Facebook or in a friend's text. They call, text or fill out a form. Someone replies, or nobody does. They book a time, show up, pay, and maybe come back or leave a review. A job can slip away at every one of those steps.

Leaks are quiet. A call that rings out after closing doesn't show up on any report. A form that sends to an old email looks fine from your side. A customer who can't find an open time just books with someone else. You never hear about the job you didn't get.

That's what we look for. Not a thick strategy deck, and not a pitch for software you don't need. A short list of the places your business loses work, in the order we'd fix them, with a flat price next to each fix.

Some fixes are a setting you change yourself in an afternoon. Some are a website, a text-back system or a CRM. The plan says which is which, so you never pay for a build when a setting would do.

02How we look

How we check your business the way a customer would

We don't start with a questionnaire. We start by being your customer. We search for your trade, call and text your line, fill out your form and time the reply, try to book, and see what happens after hours. Then you see what your customers see, written down.

  • 01

    Search your trade

We search for what you do in your part of Houston, on Google and Maps, like a customer would. We note where you show up, what your profile says, your hours and photos, and whether your phone number and website link work.

    Getting found
  • 02

    Call and text your line

We call during business hours and after. We text the number on your site. We note who picks up, how long it rings, what the voicemail says, and whether a text ever gets an answer.

    First contact
  • 03

    Time your own form

We fill out the form on your website and start a timer. We note when a reply comes, who it comes from and what it says. Sometimes the form works fine and the email lands in an inbox nobody checks.

    The reply
  • 04

    Walk the booking path

We try to book the way a customer would, on a phone. How many taps it takes, how many questions it asks, whether the open times are real, and whether a confirmation ever shows up.

    Booking
  • 05

    Check after hours

Plenty of people look for help at night and on weekends, after their own work is done. We check what they get then: a voicemail, an auto-reply, a text back, or nothing at all.

    Nights and weekends
  • 06

    Look past the first job

We ask how you get paid, how past customers hear from you again, and how you ask for reviews. Those are jobs too, and they slip away the same quiet way.

    Pay, return, review

03What you leave with

What you leave with: a written plan with a price

You get a written plan in plain words. It says what we found, what to fix first and in what order, what each fix costs at a flat price, and who would do it. The plan is yours. Take it to anyone, hand it to your team, or do the work yourself.

  • What we found. Each leak in a sentence or two, with how we found it: the search we ran, the call we made, the form we filled out and when the reply came.
  • What to fix first. The fixes in order. Fixes that cost little and take a day sit near the top, so the cheap wins don't wait behind the big ones.
  • What it costs. A flat price next to each fix we would do, set before any work starts. Software builds run $1,000 to $5,000 one time. Websites are $500 to build plus $199 a month.
  • Who would do it. Some fixes are yours: a new voicemail, the right hours on Google, a staff habit. Some are ours. Some fit another kind of company better, and the plan says so.
  • What it leaves out. We don't pad the plan with things you don't need. If an off-the-shelf tool does the job for less, the plan names it.
  • No strings. The plan doesn't lock you into anything. Do it yourself, hire someone else, or ask us to build part of it.

04The first step

What happens on the free 30-minute call

The call is free and takes 30 minutes. You tell us how customers reach you today and where you think work slips away. We ask questions, tell you what we'd check first, and say plainly whether we can help. There's no pitch deck and no pressure to buy anything.

Justin Davis runs the call himself, on Google Meet, at a time you pick on the booking page. Rather talk first? Call or text 346-876-2295.

By the end you know what we'd look at, what happens next, and whether paid work makes sense for you. If it does, you get a flat price in writing before anything starts. If it doesn't, we tell you that too. Here's what helps to have ready:

  • Your phone number and website. The ones customers actually use, so we can check them the way a customer would.
  • How work comes in. Calls, texts, forms, walk-ins, referrals, Facebook messages. A rough guess at how many is fine.
  • The tools you use now. Your calendar, a spreadsheet, a CRM, or a notebook by the register. All of them count.
  • What a job is worth. What a typical job or customer pays you. It helps put a price on a leak. Skip it if you'd rather not say.
  • The thing that bugs you most. The missed calls, the no-shows, the quotes nobody answers. That's usually where we start.

05Step by step

How consulting runs, from the call to the plan

Five steps, in this order: a free call, a look at your business from the outside, a written plan with prices, going over the plan together, and your decision. Nothing paid happens without a flat price in writing first, and you can stop after any step.

  1. A free 30-minute call

You tell us how work comes in today and what bugs you most. We tell you what we'd check, and whether we can help at all.

  2. We look from the outside

We search for your trade, call and text your line, fill out your form, try to book and check after hours. We write down what happens each time.

  3. We write the plan

What we found, what to fix first and in what order, what each fix costs at a flat price, and who would do it.

  4. We go over it together

Ask anything. Cross off what doesn't fit your budget or the way you work. The plan should make sense to you without us in the room.

  5. You decide

Do it yourself, take it to someone else, or have us build part of it. If we build, the price is flat and in writing first, and your first system is live in about 2 weeks.

06Fit

Who this is for, and who it isn't

This fits owner-run local businesses that get work by phone, text, forms or walk-ins and suspect some of it is slipping away. It doesn't fit startups with no customers yet, or companies that need a big team, long contracts and a procurement process.

A good fit

  • You own the business, or you make the call on what it buys.
  • Customers reach you by phone, text, a website form, Google or Facebook.
  • You miss calls while you're on a job, with a customer or closed for the day.
  • Follow-up depends on someone remembering to do it.
  • You're in Houston or about 50 minutes around.
  • You want the price in writing before anything starts.

Not a fit

  • A startup with no customers yet that wants a product built.
  • A project that needs a large team, enterprise procurement or a long security review.
  • A business that needs a loan package, a business plan for the bank or help with taxes.
  • Someone looking for a monthly coaching retainer. We find leaks and price fixes; we don't sell hours.
  • A team with simple needs that an off-the-shelf tool already covers. We'll tell you which one.

07An honest answer

When the free UH SBDC is the better first stop

If you're starting a business, writing a business plan, looking for a loan or sorting out your books, start with the University of Houston Small Business Development Center. It's free and it's local. We do one narrower thing: find where customers and jobs slip away in a business that already has them.

The UH SBDC is one of the first results when you search for a small business consultant in Houston. It's free, and it helps with the kind of ground we don't cover, like getting started, planning and money questions.

We're a different tool. We don't write loan packages or do your taxes. We look at how customers reach you today, find where they slip away, and put a flat price on each fix. Then, if you want, we build it.

You can use both. Get the plan for the bank from the SBDC. Call us when the phone is ringing and jobs are still getting away.

If we think the SBDC is the better first stop for you, we'll say so on the free call, and we won't take your money for work they'd do for free.

08After the plan

How consulting connects to building and marketing

Each fix in the plan lands in one of three places: something you change yourself, a system we build, or marketing that brings more customers in. You can hire us for any of it, or none of it. The plan reads the same either way, and every price is published.

  • 01

    Fixes you make yourself

A new voicemail message, the right hours on Google, a staff habit, a form that sends to the right inbox. These cost nothing but time, and the plan spells them out.

09The work

The same fixes, running in our own businesses

UPPF Studio is our own PPF and window tint shop, and we run its website, CRM and ads ourselves. The Elevate CRM is the system our own business runs on, including the booking page on this site. Tap either one to see real screens, with private details removed.

When we recommend a booking page or a CRM, it's because we run one. When you book the free call on this site, you're using the same kind of system we'd build for you.

10How we work

Flat price, you own it, you see everything

Three rules hold on every job. The price is flat and agreed in writing before work starts. You own everything we build. And you see everything the system does, down to the full transcript of every conversation it has with one of your customers.

  • Flat price, in writing, before work starts. Not an hourly meter and not an estimate that grows. If the scope changes, the change gets written down and priced before it happens.
  • You own what we build. The website, the CRM, the automations. Once it's paid for, it's yours, and ownership is in the agreement before work starts.
  • You see everything. Every text, reply and booking the system handles is saved with the full transcript. Nothing happens behind your back.
  • One person to talk to. Justin Davis runs the call, the look and the plan. Reach him at 346-876-2295 or justin@elevatebiz.co.
  • Plain words. The plan is written for an owner, not a tech team. If a word needs a dictionary, we cut it.

Questions

Questions about consulting

How much does consulting cost?

The first 30-minute call is free. If paid work follows, you get a flat price in writing before it starts, and nothing is billed without your yes. Each fix in the plan carries its own flat price too. Software builds are $1,000 to $5,000 one time. Websites are $500 to build plus $199 a month. Content and Meta ads are $1,500 to $3,000 a month plus ad spend.

What do you need from me?

Thirty minutes for the call, the phone number and website your customers use, and a rough idea of how work comes in today. Tell us which tools you use, even if it's a paper calendar. We do the first look from the outside, the way a customer would, so you don't need to hand over logins to get started.

Who does the work?

Justin Davis, the founder of Elevate, runs the call, does the look at your business and writes the plan. If you hire us to build the fixes, the same Houston team builds them, so nothing gets lost in a handoff. You can reach Justin directly at 346-876-2295 or justin@elevatebiz.co.

What happens after I get the plan?

You decide. Do the fixes yourself, take the plan to another company, or ask us to build some or all of it. If we build, you get a flat price in writing before work starts. A first system is live in about 2 weeks, and a website in about 7 days. Either way, the plan is yours to keep.

Do I have to buy a build from you?

No. The plan is useful on its own, and it's yours. Some fixes cost nothing but a setting or a habit. If an off-the-shelf tool does the job for less, the plan says so. We'd rather you fix the leak than buy something you don't need.

How long does it take?

The call takes 30 minutes. How long the look takes depends on how many ways customers reach you, and we tell you when the plan will be ready before we start. If you then build with us, the first system is live in about 2 weeks and a new website in about 7 days.

What areas do you cover?

Houston and about 50 minutes around it, including places like Katy, Sugar Land, Pearland, Pasadena, Spring and The Woodlands. Most of the checking happens the way your customers see you, by phone and online. If you're further out, call or email and we'll tell you straight whether it works.

Is it in person?

The free call is a 30-minute video call on Google Meet, booked at a time that suits you, or you can call 346-876-2295 first. The look at your business happens from the outside, by phone and online, the way your customers see you. If seeing your shop in person would help, bring it up on the call.
