Repair jobs slip away when the phone rings while every advisor is with a customer. The driver hangs up and calls the next shop on the map. A text back within a minute, a booked drop-off and a follow-up on declined work keep those cars coming, alongside the shop system you already use.
What slips away in a repair shop
- Calls at the counter rush. Drop-off mornings and pickup evenings are when the phone and the counter both need you. In a CallRail survey of 1,000 US consumers, 21% said they immediately call another business when nobody answers.
- After-hours calls. A warning light at 7 PM becomes a call to whoever answers first.
- Declined work. The customer said "not today" to brakes or a timing belt, and nobody followed up.
- Inspection visits. For most cars, the yearly sticker no longer brings the car in. More on that below.
- Reviews. Happy customers rarely volunteer one, and "auto repair near me" is decided on the map.
What changed for Texas shops in 2025?
Most cars stopped needing a yearly safety inspection. Since January 1, 2025, Texas DPS says non-commercial vehicles no longer need a safety inspection before registration, under House Bill 3297. Owners pay a $7.50 inspection program replacement fee with registration instead. Emissions tests are still required in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris and Montgomery counties.
So the visit that used to happen every year on its own now depends on you. Reminders, follow-up on declined work and a strong Google profile do that job now.
What we would build first
A text-back that books drop-offs
When a call is missed, a text goes out from your number within a minute. It says it is automated, asks about the vehicle and what the driver notices, and offers real drop-off times. The estimate stays with your advisor. Compare this with live and AI answering in auto repair answering service.
Follow-up on declined work
When a customer declines a repair, a reminder goes out weeks later at a time you choose, from your shop's records. A reply lands with your advisor. A STOP ends it.
Service reminders, if your shop system does not send them
Many shop systems already send reminders. If yours does, we leave them alone. If not, a reminder by date or mileage brings the customer back for the next service.
A review ask after every pickup
One text with a direct link, sent the same day. Read how to get more Google reviews for the rules.
Marketing that fits repair shops
- Google Business Profile. The right categories, real hours, photos of your bays and team, and replies to every review. See the profile checklist.
- A phone-first website. Your services, warranty, hours and a way to request a drop-off in a minute.
- Emissions and fleet work. In the five counties above, the emissions test is a reason to visit that still comes around every year. Make it easy to find on your site and profile.
How it works day to day
- A call comes in while your advisor is at the counter and rings out.
- Within a minute the driver gets a text from your number.
- They reply with the vehicle and what is wrong.
- The assistant offers two real drop-off times. They pick one.
- The appointment lands in your schedule, and your advisor gets the whole thread.
- Price questions, angry customers and anything unsafe go to a person first.
Who this fits
It fits independent shops with one to a dozen bays, where advisors answer the phone between customers. It is a poor fit if your shop system already answers and books calls the way you want.
How pricing works
- First call: free, 15 to 30 minutes.
- Pricing: We set the price on the free call, once we know what you need. A text-back on its own is among our smaller builds. A system with declined-work follow-up and a dashboard is larger.
- What you get: AI and software builds you own, plus hosting, AI usage, upkeep, updates and support. A small build can be live in a day or two, a bigger one in a week or two. Google Business Profile and content with Meta ads are available too. If we run Meta ads, ad spend is paid to Meta directly and is separate from our service fee.
The flat price is in writing before any work starts.
What it will not do
It does not diagnose a car, quote a repair or authorize work. It does not replace your shop management system. And if that system already does what you need, we will say so on the call.
